Dutchess County's history is visible at every turn. Colonial homesteads, gothic cottages, clapboard farmhouses, Victorian villas, Beaux Arts mansions, stone churches, country inns--all stand in silent witness to past lives and events that have shaped the distinctive character of Dutchess County. High-tech industries and modern shopping malls have replaced brickyards and trading posts, but historic resources remain an integral part of the Dutchess County landscape.

The mission of the Winnakee Land Trust is to protect and preserve the

natural agricultural, recreational, architectural, cultural, scenic, historical,

and open space resources of northern Dutchess County.

Clinton Township (Named after George Clinton, governor of New York during the Revolutionary War) population 4,010 (2000 census) is comprised of 37.60 sq. miles and is situated in the west central part of the county.

Hyde Park has seemed to be a haven for the wealthy, many of whom have been important. The river and its beauty were great invitations to locate here: Stoutenburg, Bards, Hosack, Langdon, Dinsmore, Mills, Morgan, Roosevelts, Rogers and Vanderbilt.

The Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer organization... a source of information... a representative of business... a catalyst.... the Chamber is people. It is people who want to promote orderly growth; people who work together to solve problems and advance programs to make Hyde Park a better place to live and make a living.

We welcome to our community those who enjoy a bucolic lifestyle and share a willingness to sustain it.

The Town of Washington is governed by the elected officials and the elected boards for discussion of town business and legislative decision making. The Town Board is the lead organization.

Nestled among rolling hills in the heart of Dutchess County is the Village of Millbrook. Long favored for the idyllic beauty of the surrounding countryside, the heart of the community is the 19th century village that dates from the arrival of the railroad in 1869. Though the railroad no longer exists, the bustling community that developed around it continues to thrive.

As you may have noticed, MillbrookNYOnline.com has become a bit outdated in the past couple of years. 

Happily, it is now under new ownership and as of April 1st will begin to be rebuilt and updated.

Red Hook has that "home town main street America" atmosphere with all of the character and friendliness of a small town while maintaining its quiet country charm, yet enjoying easy access to all conveniences.

Welcome to the Town of Rhinebeck, a community of 8,000 established in 1688, has a rich historic and cultural past. Perched along the bluffs of the majestic Hudson River, this river town has a legacy of historic and scenic resources. There are more than 400 homes listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce represents more than 400 businesses of varying sizes from every industry and profession in our region. We strive to be a comprehensive resource for our members in marketing, education, growth, and advocacy so that they can enhance their business successes.

About Rhinebeck: Rhinebeck, NY exists within Dutchess County and is comprised of two governmental jurisdictions, The Village of Rhinebeck and The Town of Rhinebeck. Residents of the village are citizens of both the town and village. Town residents who live outside the village are citizens only of the town.

           Today the house strives to act as a resource center and library for information on historic preservation, conservation and restoration.  

The Museum’s mission is to collect, catalog and interpret the history of the town. The collection of gifts to the Museum includes letters, books, journals, clothing, furniture, photographs, postcards, and other related artifacts which reveal the life of this community.
